1 Dies in Fire at Central Japan Shipyard; 9 Sent to Hospital

Shizuoka, Aug. 21 (Jiji Press)--One person died in a fire that broke out at a shipyard in the central Japan city of Shizuoka on Friday morning.

Around 8:50 a.m., local fire authorities received an emergency call from a shipyard employee reporting that the inside of a ship had caught fire. According to the Shizuoka prefectural police and firefighters, nine other people were taken to hospital.

According to the police, several people were working inside the ship when the fire broke out. The police and fire authorities are investigating details, including the cause of the fire.
