Births in Japan Rise 0.8 Pct in 1st Half

Tokyo, Aug. 28 (Jiji Press)--The number of births in Japan edged up 0.8 pct in the January-June period from a year before to 342,068, the health ministry said Friday.
The figure marked the first rise for the first half of a year in 11 years.
