Satō Fumika

Professor of sociology, Hitotsubashi University. Received her doctoral degree from Keiō University in 2002. Specializes in theories of gender and the sociology of gender, war, and the military. Author of the 2004 Gunji soshiki to jendā: Jieitai no onnatachi (Gender and the Military: Women in the Self-Defense Forces) and the 2022 Josei heishi to iu nanmon: Jendā kara tou sensō/guntai no shakaigaku (The Conundrum of the Female Soldier: The Sociology of War and the Military from a Gender Perspective). She is also a contributor to the five-volume Shirīzu: Sensō to Shakai (War and Society Series), among other publications.
