Farida Yumi

Dancer and choreographer. She began studying belly dancing in 2003 after seeing a demonstration of the performing art in Germany. As a professional, she has won a number of competitions in Japan and abroad. She founded and her own dance studio in 2014 and currently teaches in Tokyo, Chiba, and Fukushima. She began studying the Arabic language and calligraphy at the Arabic Islamic Institute in Tokyo in 2018, graduating in January 2021. In January 2020, she became the first Japanese to perform with the National Folkloric Dance Troupe of Egypt during an event in Hong Kong to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the group’s founding.
