Reporter at Mainichi Shimbun. Joined the newspaper in 1990. Has long specialized in writing about both Japanese and international film. Headed the Cultural News Department from 2016 to 2020. Editor of Kagawa Kyōko’s Ai sureba koso: Sukurīn no mukō kara (Because I Love You: From the Other Side of the Screen).
