Hibiya Taketoshi

Born in 1945. Received an MS in applied chemistry from Keiō University in 1971, a PhD in materials science from the same school in 1978, and a doctorate in literature from Jissen Women’s University in 2016. Previously worked as research fellow at NEC Fundamental Research Laboratories, professor of aerospace engineering in the Faculty of Systems Design at Tokyo Metropolitan University, and professor at the Graduate School of System Design and Management at Keiō University. Is now executive advisor at Keiō’s SDM Research Institute and a guest researcher at Jissen Women’s University. Descendant of the family that managed the Izumiya brothel in Yoshiwara. Works include Edo Yoshiwara no keieigaku (Edo Yoshiwara’s Business Management).
