Yamada Michiko

Freelance writer. Born in Tokyo. Entered the Mainichi Newspapers Co. in 1985 and worked for the city news desk, the political desk, and the Kawasaki Bureau of the Mainichi Shimbun. In 2008 began a three-year stint as editor in chief of the weekly general-interest magazine Sunday Mainichi. Went on to serve as head of the editorial department for the newspaper’s evening edition and of the opinion poll office before leaving the company to go freelance in 2019.
