Subaru is one of the star canines at the Akita Dog Preservation Society headquarters in Ōdate, Akita Prefecture. His sister Sakura was given as a present for adoption by Asashōryū, a former Yokozuna, or grand champion sumo wrestler. Since his debut in May he has been growing healthily. When he goes for a walk, he happily carries the bag containing his gear.
