Koizumi Bon

Great-grandson of Lafcadio Hearn and director of the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum. Honorary director of the Yaizu Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum. Honorary professor at University of Shimane Junior College. Born in Tokyo in 1961. Specialized in folklore studies at Seijō University as an undergraduate and postgraduate student. Was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation in 2017 for his contributions to cultural exchange between Japan and Ireland. Works include Minzoku gakusha: Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn as a Folklorist) and Kaidan yondaiki: Yakumo no itazura (Fourth-Generation Kwaidan: Yakumo’s Mischief).
